We work in industries that are linked to increased mental health issues and our business leaders wanted to be proactive in tackling this across the Group. For many people mental illness is hard to self-diagnose so the check-in is a valuable tool for employees to see how they are travelling in terms of their own health. The program also helped start the conversation and hopefully break down some of the stigmas that come with asking a workmate how he or she is going. From a business perspective the program and team at Vital Conversations have helped us to better understand this area and what we need to do to ensure we have a healthier workforce in the future.
